Jet Lag

If you’ve travelled across several time zones quickly, then you may experience the potential holiday-wrecker that is jet lag. Jet lag disrupts your body clock and can make you feel tired, lethargic and disorientated during the day and wide-awake at night. Other symptoms include an upset stomach, nausea, loss of appetite, headache, anxiety, difficulty concentrating and irritability; not ideal if you’re on the holiday of a lifetime or a romantic break.

Minimise jet lag with these simple tips:

•    Try changing your bedtime and mealtimes to make them closer to the time zone of your destination a few days before you travel.
•    When you arrive, exposing yourself to light during the daytime can help your body adjust its internal clock to new local time more quickly.
•    Try to avoid light during the nighttime at your destination, to trigger production of the sleep hormone melatonin.
